MBAISE CATHOLICISM BLOG
BLOGGING CATHOLICISM IN MBAISE, IGBO LAND, NIGERIA, AFRICA AND THE WORLD
Mission Statement
MBAISE CATHOLICISM BLOG is a child of necessity. It came into being as a result of the tragic crisis that engulfed the Catholic Diocese of Ahiara Mbaise following the befuddling appointment of Bishop Peter Ebere Okpalaeke - a priest of Awka Diocese in Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province in Anambra State, Nigeria, as the bishop of the diocese.

The anger and frustration that greeted the appointment and the consequent revulsion many Catholics in Nigeria and beyond felt over Bishop Okpalaeke’s rejection in Mbaise land, made the coming into being of this BLOG inevitable. MBAISE CATHOLICISM BLOG springs from the realization that the bishopric crisis in Ahiara Diocese has had only one major victim so far. And that is the truth or accurate information on the whole tragedy.

The goal of MBAISE CATHOLICISM BLOG is therefore to search, to share and to document truthful information about the unique Catholicism of the Mbaise people of Imo State, Nigeria, in light of what appears to be a general misconception of the basis of the crisis that has been raging in Ahiara Diocese since 2012.

MBAISE CATHOLICISM BLOG is determined to dig ever deeper into the root causes of the crisis in Ahiara Diocese and to make its findings available to readers of this blog across the world. All this is aimed at helping the Catholic Church in Nigeria and elsewhere in the world to avoid a crisis of this nature that could constitute a major roadblock to evangelization.
